The Stinnettes
in Chesapeake had a sunny kitchen but with white countertops and
white ceramic floor tile, their most often used room in the
house lacked color, save for the red cookware and a few nautical
themed canisters. Consulting with Jennifer Finch for assistance
in improving the mundane space, they described their ideas for
breaking away from traditional tiled backsplash. Instead of
ordinary checkered tile squares, they wanted the vacation feel
of coconut lined isles surrounding a bay of sailboats and a
striped lighthouse. Jennifer added clear coat to seal the paint
and protect the backsplash from water and cooking spatters. The
finished mural perfectly captured the resort-style ambience they
were hoping for--a transformation best described in photographs
below.
